Count

A Full Blood Count (FBC) is one of the most commonly requested blood tests by doctors. It provides important information about the types and quantities of cells in a person’s blood. It is a blood test that measures the amounts and sizes of your red blood cells, haemoglobin, white blood cells, and platelets. Your doctor can use these results to monitor and diagnose medical conditions, and check on the health of your immune system. Infections, medications, anaemia, and cancer (e.g. leukaemia), can cause abnormal results.

Your doctor will discuss results provided by Fortress Clinical Laboratory with you, and advise on the next best steps (i.e. further tests (as this is usually a first port-of-call test requested by doctors), or treatment). Fortress Clinical Laboratory provide a Full Blood Count with Differential, which means we will also perform laboratory testing to count each different type of white blood cell, which will give your doctor more information regarding your different immune system cells.
